BASIC SOCIAL SCIENCE
1. Preliminary Higher education is expected to produce graduates who have a set of capabilities consisting of: 1. Academic Ability 2. Profession abilities 3. Personal Capability
Attainment of academic skills and abilities have been cultivated through Professional skills courses , which is eye-courses according to areas of science each given in college.
As for personal skills, is expected to be achieved through a group of subjects who are members of the general basic courses consisting of lectures spy: 1. Pancasila 2. Religion 3. Manliness 4. Educational history of national struggle 5. Natural science foundation (IAD) 6. Basic social science (ISD) 7. Basic culture of science (IBD)
7 basic courses generally grouped into 2 parts: 1. The first group includes the subjects: Pancasila, religion, civics and history education national struggle. The group is expected to be the basis of guidelines as a good student citizens. The four courses are mandatory for all students at all universities, which assessed and have a graduation. 2. The second group includes subjects: Natural science foundation, Basic social science and .Basic culture of science The group is expected to help increase student awareness regarding the Natural environment, environmental, social and cultural environment.
Specifically the personal ability to be achieved through degree aims to produce citizens who qualify as follows: a. Pious to God Almighty, behave and act in accordance with the teachings of his religion, and have tolerance towards other faiths. b. Pancasila spirit so that all decisions and actions reflect the values of Pancasila and has a high integeritas personality, who put national interests and abilities as a scholar Indonesia c. Having insight History of Struggle Nations, so as to strengthen the spirit of kenbangsaan, memepertebal love for the homeland, nation and state to raise awareness, enhance national nationality and humanity as a scholar of Indonesia. d. Having a comprehensive insight and an integral approach in addressing the problems of life, whether social, economic, political, defense, security and culture. e. Having extensive knowledge about social life, and together be able to participate and improve its quality, nor about the natural environment and jointly participate in its preservation.
Basic social science as a principal theme of lecture was part of reciprocal relationship between humans and their environment.
2. Basic Social Sciences
2.1 Definition Basic social science is the knowledge that examines social problems, especially those embodied by the Indonesian people by using terms (facts, concepts, theories) that come from different fields of expertise knowledge in the field of social sciences such as history, economics, geography , social, sociology, anthropology, social psychology.
2.2 Objectives As one of the common basic subjects. Basic Social Sciences has the goal of fostering students to: a. understand and recognize the social realities and an issue with social problems that exist in society. b. Sensitive to social issues and responsive to participate in efforts to mitigate them. c. Realizing every social masalh arising in the community is always complex and only approached critically and interdisciplinary study. d. Understanding the mindset of the experts in other fields of science and can communicate with them in order to overcoming the social problems that arise in society.
2.3 Basic Social Sciences and Social Sciences Social Science foundation and the Social Sciences have both similarities and differences.

Differences Social Science foundation and the Social Sciences are: a. Basic social sciences is given in the High Eduction, Social Sciences provided in primary and secondary schools. b. Basic social science is a single course while the basic social sciences are a group of a number of subjects (to school). c. Social sciences are directed to the formation of basic attitudes and personality, social science is being directed to the formation of knowledge and intellectual skills.
